Ladies, as much as we love to love the losers, maybe it’s time to give good guys a chance.

Sunday Mornings

In Culture, Family, Friends, Health, Relationships on November 18, 2012 at 3:44 pm

There’s something so calm about a Sunday morning for me that I can date back to my childhood. It’s always been a time for me to relax and revel in my laziness and not feel bad about not running around doing errands or meeting up with friends. I recently resolved to enjoy my Sunday’s again by taking out time for myself and reflecting on the prior week, as well as preparing for the upcoming week. It’ll take some time for my Sunday mentality to seep throughout the rest of the week but I’m going to work on that too.

With that being said, how do you spend your Sunday?

I absolutely adore her voice. I have to find more of her music to post, but for now I hope you all enjoy this.

Why Settle?

In Culture, Family, Friends, Health, Relationships, Work on November 13, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Why Settle?

Inasmuch as I enjoy rhetoric, I really pose the question “Why settle?” So often I see friends and acquaintances settling in regards to their work, friendships, and relationships with little or no explanation as to why they did. I’d talk about all of my experiences in settling but you don’t have a lifetime or a violin to sit with me on that one lol But most often for me it was my inability to inconvenience others. And by “inability” I mean that I tried at all times to avoid seeming difficult or not agreeable. But guess what? When a person avoids interpersonal conflict it results in internal conflict and that can lead to a lot of negativity (i.e. feelings of resentment, communication disconnect with others, etc.). So I suggest remedying settling with settling on the fact that you are as important as any thing or person in which you are giving attention, time and energy to. Do what makes you happy & healthy emotionally, mentally and physically and do it often.

Get Smart About Antibiotic Use

In Family, Friends, Health on November 6, 2012 at 2:47 am

It’s not often that I speak about health initiatives on my blog. Maybe it’s because my Master’s studies are in Health Communication and by the end of the day I’m overwhelmed with theories and concepts for change. Nonetheless, I’ve decided to blog more about social and health issues that are at the forefront of my studies. I thank you in advance for joining me on this new journey 🙂 Please provide me with feedback because it will help me to further develop my ideas!

Today I want to talk about the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) healthcare campaign titled Get Smart: Know when Antibiotics Work. It is a nationwide effort to combat inappropriate antibiotic use. This health initiative has been placed in the forefront because of fast developing drug resistant and antibiotic resistant diseases that stem from people taking antibiotics excessively or when they aren’t medically necessary. Doing so causes bacteria in your body to become resistant to medications that are initially intended to kill or weaken them.

The program is really great because it raises awareness about when to take antibiotics and when to avoid them, even if your prescriber suggests it.

Always remember, antibiotics are for bacteria NOT viruses (i.e. cold, flu, sore throat, etc.).

Visit CDC’s Get Smart Campaign Info for more info on the campaign.
