Jealousy: Attractive or Atrocious?

In my opinion jealousy is not attractive. I’m referring to the type of jealousy that makes your brain think it’s okay to stalk someone’s social networking sites, repeatedly text/call them demanding their whereabouts, and become exceedingly angry if they do not return your call in the “5 minutes” that they said they would. Robert A. Heinlein said it best: “A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity.” I mean sure, in a relationship every once in a while you may feel the sting of jealousy by seeing your mate admired or complimented by someone else, or at watching their social popularity. But your emotional maturity should allow you to be flattered that others deem your mate to be as awesome as you do. In the event that your mate reciprocates any overly affectionate actions towards that person, then that warrants concern. Otherwise, take your neurosis elsewhere and stop confusing your jealous over-possessive behavior for love.
